John High Hawk

John T. High Hawk was born on August 6, 1966 in Pine Ridge, SD to Virginia (Kills Crow Indian) High Hawk and was raised Oscar Hollow Horn and Rachel Hollow Horn.  John made his journey to the Spirit World on October 5, 2024 at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.

John is survived by his sons, Tad High Hawk, Dakota High Hawk; daughter, Lariah High Hawk; grandchildren, Oscar High Hawk, Peyton High Hawk, Zuya Dโ€™Zev Lovejoy, Xylie Cante Wawokiya Running Enemy, Janice Patrifcia Wakinyan Peta Win Oatman, Xanadi Vanee Waawanglaka High Hawk, Zhavia Xavean Kimimilia Win High Hawk, and Xoshua Zayne Pejuta Wakan High Hawk; sisters, Dawna Jean Rodriguez, Denise Richards-Black Elk, Nancy White Eyes, Phyllis Hollow Horn, Linda Hollow Horn, Isabelle Hollow Horn, and Belva Hollow Horn-Emery; brothers, Sterling Hollow Horn, and Alan Gorte; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

John was preceded in death by his son, Chantz High Hawk; father, Oscar Hollow Horn; mothers, Rachel Hollow Horn and Virginia Kills Crow Indian-High Hawk; brothers, Glen Hollow Horn and Billy Hollow Horn; and sisters, Andrette Spotted Elk, Lorine Hollow Horn, and Thelma Hollow Horn-Lamont.

Pallbearers will be Franklin Moon Poor Bear, Jr., Erlund Black Elk, Dale Hollow Horn, Tom Hollow Horn, Jarrett Jealous of Him, Ethan Mills, Sean Casey, and Jason Bell.

Wake Services: Two night wake services starting at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Messiah Episcopal Church in Wounded Knee, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night.

Funeral Services: 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Messiah Episcopal Church in Wounded Knee, SD

Burial Services: Johnson Memorial Presbyterian Cemetery, Wounded Knee, SD
