Funeral services for 87-year old John Hunter Jr are Monday, May 16, 2022 at 1:00 at the Hunter Memorial Rodeo Arena in Kyle, SD, with traditional Lakota services by George Apple
John Hunter Jr was a veteran and burial with military honors will follow the funeral at 2:00 at the Lakota Freedom Veterans Cemetery in Kyle.
Visitation will precede the funeral from 10:00-1:00, also at the Hunter Memorial Rodeo Arena in Kyle
John Hunter Jr was born on June 4, 1934 in Pine Ridge, SD, to John Hunter Sr and Maggie Gibbons. John Jr made his journey to the Spirit World on May 5, 2022 at the Southern California Hospital in Culver City, CA.
John is survived by his daughter, Shonna Hunter.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John & Maggie (Gibbons) Hunter; daughter, Tracey Durant; son, Stephen Durant; brothers, Stephen, Aloysius, Ambrose (Blondie), Harlan (Babe) and Sidney Hunter; sisters, Carolina (Dallas) Gay, Colleen Zephier, Rebecca Ramos and Patricia Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Frank Hunter, Darrell Hunter, Howard Hunter, Jr., Derek Hunter, Jacey Hunter, Skylar Hunter, Myles Janis, and Wes Janis.
