John Landreth

John Landreth was born April 22, 1968, to Vern and Velma Earline (Post) Landreth in Rushville, Nebraska. He died November 7, 2024, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 56.

John grew up in the country with his parents and two siblings, Donald and Janet. His love for animals and farming started at an early age. John was an active 4-H member for 10 years and FFA member all through high school. After graduating from Rushville High school in 1986 he went to the Air Force. While in the Air Force he got the pleasure of working on aircrafts here in the states and also in England. While in the service he met his best friend and partner in โ€˜crimeโ€™ Marty Watters. John received an Honorable Discharge on Feb. 16, 1990. After the service he came home to Gordon and worked for Benny Janssen on and off until his death. When he wasnโ€™t working for Benny he worked for Kerry Retzlaff, Stuart Johnson, Roger Latchaw, Brad Eichenberger, and Bruce Simmons.

On September 3, 1994, he married Valerie Beel from Johnstown, Nebraska and on January 15, 2002, they welcomed Calvin Andrew into their family. After 14 years of marriage, they divorced. John was an active member of the Antique Tractor Club. He loved tractors, motorcycles and anything mechanical. He shared his love for animals and mechanics with anyone who would listen.

His friendly nature meant that he never met a stranger. He helped at Fair with his dad and later with his sonโ€™s pigs. John belonged to the Rushville American Legion Club. He was grateful for the VA and C.A.R.E for all of the help he received during his illness.

John was preceded in death by his parents Vern and Earline, grandparents Alva and Eva Landreth and Dale and Dorothy Post, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

John is survived is survived by his brothers Donald (Holly) and their kids Lindsay (Kris) Jenks, Roy (Zoe) Landreth and Shalee (Kevin) Maggi, and sister Janet, his son Calvin and family, great nephews Hunter Landreth, William, Nathan, and Luke Jenks, Anthony Magggi, uncle Albert and aunt Evelyn Landreth, uncle William Austin, uncle Duane Cerny, grandma Elnora Hindman Post and many cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, 2:00PM at the Rushville American Legion.
