Funeral services for 67-year old John Trimble of Rapid City, SD, are Tues, Nov 7, 2023 at 11:00 at Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Church in Oglala, SD with Father Joe Daoust, SJ, officiating.
A meal will follow at Brother Denny Hall
Burial is at Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Cemetery in Oglala.
Visitation precedes the funeral from 10:00-11:00 at Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Church in Oglala
John Guy Trimble was born on July 2, 1956, on the Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota. He walked on October 31, 2023, beginning his journey surrounded in love by his wife Nadine, her sisters, Vana Roubideaux, Linda Janis, Betty Cox, and sister in-law, Myrna Leader Charge.
John was a beloved husband, grandfather, father, son, uncle, and nephew of the Trimble and Richards family from the Pine Ridge Reservation where he is an enrolled member.
John moved to Spokane, WA, as a toddler as his family began moving to many places across the nation. From Spokane, they moved to the Los Angeles area, then Rocky Boy Reservation in Montana, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Falls Church, VA, before moving back to their homelands.
John possessed a wicked sense of humor and was very quick and clever while remaining playful with his remarks. He was an avid reader and always keenly interested in national and state politics. He was a loyal LA Dodger and Oakland Raider fan.
John is survived by his spouse Nadine Trimble; sister Mary Trimble Norris and her spouse Richard Norris; his children Holly Hall Trimble, Devon Wilson, Sarah Eagle Heart, and Emma Eagle Heart White; and his nieces and nephews Luci Red Owl, Lindsay Red Owl, Leona Means, Autumn Means, Mary Ann Bryant, Warren Means, Dennis Means Jr, Caitlin Nell Means, Shea Norris, Richard Randall Trimble, John Thomas Trimble, Maryn Ellen Fish, Albert Trimble, Amelia Sazue, Frances Cordelia Trimble, Myene Trimble and Angelica Yanu-Trimble.
John was preceded in death by his parents Albert William Trimble and Mary Ann Richards Trimble; his sisters Tracy C Trimble, Rosalie, and Cecily Trimble; and brothers Francis Richard Trimble, Thomas Joseph Trimble, and Albert William Trimble.
Pallbearers will be John T Trimble, Dennis Means, Shea Norris, Dan Sanders, Dave Sanders, and Urva Grass.
