Burial is at the Broken Rope-Yellow Hawk Family Cemetery in Kyle.

Joseph Creighton Broken Rope was born on April 19, 1956 in Pine Ridge, SD to Luke and Katie (Yellow Hawk) Broken Rope. Joseph made his journey to the Spirit World on May 30, 2024 at his home near Kyle, SD.
Joseph is survived by his siblings Elwin Broken Rope Sr, Benita Little Bear, and Marilyn Morrison; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Luke and Katie (Yellow Hawk) Broken Rope; siblings Lucy Little Whiteman, Elvera Little Whiteman, Clarence Broken Rope, Mildred Broken Rope, Irwin Broken Rope, John Yellow Hawk, and Delores Takes War Bonnet; paternal grandparents Joseph Broken Rope and Lucy Black Bear; maternal grandparents Molly Chips and John Yellow Hawk; nieces and nephews Ann Broken Rope, Katrina Broken Rope, Cleveland Broken Rope, Basil Broken Rope, Lucas Morrison, Avery Morrison, Sloane Bull Bear, Lisa Red Owl, Zondre Broken Rope, and Al Little Whiteman Jr, and numerous other nieces, nephews, & grandchildren.
