Funeral services are now Sunday, Dec 12, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Joyner Hall in Pine Ridge, SD, with Pastor Ken Trivette officiating and traditional Lakota services by Scotty Brown Eyes and Will Peters
Burial is at the Spotted Elk Family Cemetery in Slim Buttes, SD
A one-night wake service starts Sat, Dec 11, at 4:30, also at Joyner Hall in Pine Ridge, SD
Joseph Bruce Janis-Behan was born on April 17, 1996 in Pine Ridge, SD to Selam Cyrus Behan, Sr. and LeaAnn Janis. Joseph made his journey to the Spirit World on November 29, 2021 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Joseph is survived by his father, Selam Cyrus Behan, Sr.; mother, LeaAnn Janis; siblings, Bernadette Janis, Jayme Janis, Paul Waters, Marino Waters, Anthony and Selam Cyrus Behan, Jr.; grandmother, Geraldine Blue Bird; aunts & uncles, Earl Janis, Donna Whalen-Janis, Renee Janis, and Roger Janis; nieces & nephews, Draiden Janis, Allissiana Waters, Laticia Waters, NaLani Waters-Brave Heart, Liam Waters-Brave Heart, Levi Waters-Brave Heart, Paul Waters II, Kainaa Waters, Nyah Waters, and Eveliah Waters.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harrison and Jeannette Caldwell, and Augustine Ridgley; aunt, Katherine Red Feather; uncle, Clarence Behan, Jr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Christian Merrival, Jarrian Ribitsch, Timothy Big Crow, Nathan Whalen, Jesse Whalen, Dennis Cross, Valance Bagola, Steven Yankton, and Luzahan White Horse.
