Josephine Means-White Crane Walking was born to Edward Means and Rose Braveheart in Allen on December 8, 1928. Josephine made her journey to the Spirit World on August 15, 2024 in her home in Potato Creek, SD
Josephine met Aloysius White Crane walking in Alliance, NE and they later married in June of 1951. She was a farm worker for many years in Alliance and in her spare time she made moccasins. They moved to Potato Creek where she lived for 53 years.
Josephine is survived by her daughters, Nancy Reddest, Marilyn (Tony) Wounded Head, and Linda Lays Bad; her grandchildren, Joseph Reddest, Rudy (Melinda) Reddest, Duanna Reddest, Gregory White Crane Walking, Anthony Wounded Head, Jr., Aloysius Wounded Head, Antionette Wounded Head, Curtis White Crane Walking, Jr., Kimberly White Crane Walking, Issac White Crane Walking, Tyson High Hawk, Lashay High Hawk, Dominic High Hawk, Waylon Means, Roberta Means, and Annie Means; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Means and Rose Braveheart-Means; husband, Aloyius White Crane Walking; sisters, Martha Dubray, Carrie Means-Fast Wolf, Ruth Means, Veronica Means, Betty Means, Lavina Means, Marilyn Means, and Arlene Means; brothers, Edward Means, Jr., Walter Means, Wilbur Means, Wilson Means, Mavrick Means, and Elvis Means; sons, Robert Means, Curtis White Crane Walking, Aloyius Joseph White Crane Walking, and Baby Boy White Crane Walking; daughters, Rita Mae White Crane Walking and Arlene White Crane Walking; grandchildren, Demitri Means, Gwendolyn Reddest, Delbert High Hawk, Jr., Mariah High Hawk, and Earnest Paul Means.

Funeral service for Josephine Means-White Crane Walking will be at 2 on Saturday August 24 at the Inestimable Gift Episcopal Church near Allen, SD with Lay Minister Anthony Wounded Head officiating.
A one night wake service will take place starting at 11 on Friday August 23, at the Inestimable Gift Episcopal Church with evening services at 7.
Burial is at the Trinity Cemetery in Yellow Bear-Allen SD.
Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
