Judy Edith Ide was born on January 16, 1942 to her father Clyde and mother Ruth. She was called home June 18, 2023, to be with the Lord in Heaven, passing peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford to be reunited with her husband to celebrate Fathers’ Day together.

Judy was 1 year old when her brother Gary was born. They were adopted and raised as their own by Irene and Ben Heckman.

Judy graduated from Crawford High School in 1960 and married James “Jim” Cook on August 27, 1961. The next year, they welcomed daughter Connie Jeanne on June 17, 1962, followed almost exactly a year later by son Corey James on June 10, 1963.

Judy loved to write. She wrote a poem that was published in a paper, and always wrote her Christmas letter in the form of The Night Before Christmas.

Judy was a firm believer in serving her Lord and Saviour. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ, and later in life pursued her passion of leading people to Jesus by going into the ministry.

Judy became a pastor and served at two small UCC churches in the Sandhill, Purdum and Brewster. She loved to share the word of God with her congregations and her family.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, her adoptive mother and father, and her brother.

Judy is survived by her beloved children: daughter Connie and (husband) Ron Crowley of Fritch TX, and son Corey Cook of Borger, TX; grandchildren Nicole (Crowley) and (husband) Johnathan Bentley of Hallsville, MO, and Eric and (wife) Charity Cook of Borger; and four great-grandchildren.
