Funeral services for 85-year old Julia Milk-Wilcox are Monday, Oct 16, 2023 at 2:00 at the Crazy Horse School Gym in Wanblee, SD, with Mother Michelle Dayton officiating.

Burial is at the Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee

A one-night wake service starts Sunday, Oct 15, at 3:00 at the Crazy Horse School Gym in Wanblee

Julia Fern Milk-Wilcox was born on Nov 18, 1937 in Milk’s Camp in Allen, SD to Elizabeth Milk and Phillip Two Elk. Julia entered eternal rest on Wed, Oct 4, 2023 at the Monument Health Center in Rapid City, SD.

Julia attended the Holy Rosary Mission from when she was 3 years old until she was 14 and made her home in Wanblee. In her first union, she welcomed her first-born daughter and first-born son,  Elizabeth Chipps-Larvie and Levi Chipps. 

Her second union with her beloved husband Floyd “Sh’lo” Wilcox welcomed 11 children: Floyd “Chilli”, Phyllis, Cora, Leroy, Lloyd Sr, Harlan “Charlie”, Michelle, Warren “Warnie”, the chekpas Jason & Bonnie, and Leo “Troy.” 

Julia enjoyed being a homemaker, quilting, sewing, cooking, baking, playing bingo, watching Wheel of Fortune, attending dinners, powwows, celebrating holidays, attending family events, and being a Grandma. Julia and Sh’lo helped in raising their grandchildren Colin and Jaylene, who they loved and cherished very much.

Julia was an avid believer in education; she served on the OST Law & Order Review Board as secretary for 14 years, providing a voice for the elderly of the Eagle Nest District.

Julia is survived by her children Floyd “Chilli” Wilcox, Cora Wilcox, Lloyd ‘DoeToe” & Rhonda Wilcox, Harlan “Charlie” & Melinda Wilcox, Michelle & Harold Decory, Bonnie Wilcox, and Leo “Troy” Wilcox; 38 Grandchildren; 56 Great-Grandchildren; 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband Floyd ‘Sh’lo” Wilcox Sr; her children Levi, Elizabeth, Phyllis, Leroy & Darlene, Warren “Warnie” & Sonchia, and Jason; daughter-in-law Jayne; her grandchildren Jaylene, Samantha, Justin, Precious, and Lori Lyn; her great-grandchildren Sylvester “Fat Pat”, Waylon Jr, Baby Dallas, and, Angel & Kassidy Phelps.
