Results from the May 12th elections across the State of Nebraska are in and there will be a new Dawes County Commissioner for District Two as Justin R. Madsen defeated incumbent Vic Rivera.
With 100% of the votes counted Madsen earned 202 of the 344 votes with Rivera getting 142 votes. That amounts to 58.7% of the votes for Madsen and 41.3% for Rivera.
In Crawford the voters voted down an increase of sales tax from 1.5% to 2% with 156 votes against the increase and 104 votes for the increase.
It was the opposite in Hay Springs where voters there voted 48 to 41 for an increase of sales tax in Hay Springs from 1% to 1.5%.
Looking at other county commissioner races. In Sioux County incumbents J.W. Geiser and Allerton Hal Downer were reelected to the board with Geiser taking 35.6% of the vote and Downer taking 42.6%. In Sheridan County Ryan Paul earned 42.5% of the vote in the county commissioner district two race, defeating incumbent James Krotz and Gerald A. Johnson.
