A Celebration of Life with friends and family for 29-year old former Chadron resident Kaitlin “Kaitie” (Stevens) Leising will be held Saturday, June 17th, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 at the Ridgeview Country Club-Chadron Golf Course in Chadron, NE.
Everyone is invited by the family in celebrating Kait’s zest for life, her infectious smile, and all the kindness and compassion she shared with this world. Please wear casual attire.
A memorial fund for Kaitie’s infant son, Syler, has been created and donations identified as for the “Benefit of Deputy Leising” can be made to WESTconsin Credit Union, PO Box 269, New Richmond, WI 54017, or to the Stevens Family, PO Box 1070, Chadron, NE 69337.
Kaitlin R Stevens was born to Roger and Kris Stevens on January 10, 1994, joining big sister Jordyn. She graduated from Chadron High School and Black Hills State University. Kait married her best friend, Courtney Leising, on October 7, 2017, and was blessed with a beautiful son in January, 2023.
Kait and Courtney moved to Wisconsin in 2022 to become a deputy with the St Croix County Sheriff’s Office.
On May 6, 2023, near Glenwood City, WI, Kait was killed in the line of duty doing what she so passionately loved. Being a Sheriff’s Deputy was a role she was destined for as she believed in and saw the good in people, and exuded warmth so others were uplifted.
In her 3-year law enforcement career, she was recognized many times over by her Departments and citizens. She was honored with a Law Enforcement funeral in Hudson, Wisconsin on May 12th, 2023.
Kaitie’s family says it “needs to express our deepest gratitude to our community, the Law Enforcement family of Pennington County and St. Croix County, and to communities in South Dakota and Wisconsin, for the outpouring of support and love, for holding us in your prayers and upright when we didn’t have the strength to stand.
Oh how we will miss Kait’s beautiful sparkle.”
