Funeral Services for 77-year old Karen Schlais of Chadron, NE, are Sat, April 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chadron.
Burial at the Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron.

Karen Marie (Kindig) Schlais was born August 18, 1944 to Kenneth and Marie (Larsen) and passed away on April 6, 2022 at Chadron Community Hospital at the age of 77.
The youngest of four siblings, Karen was baptized and confirmed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where was active in youth group and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
After graduating High School, Karen moved to Denver, CO, with her sister and family, but after a year moved again, this time to Los Angeles, CA, to live with an aunt.
Karen graduated cosmetology school and was a beautician for twenty years. She married Harold Schlais in 1970 and they had one son, William.
She was active at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Inglewood, CA, helping in the library and hot lunch program. She was also President of the Beautician Union 295A Los Angeles.
In 1983, she and her family moved back to Chadron where she resumed being busy at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She was also involved with RSVP and the Dawes County Museum.
She is survived by her son Bill (Eunice), 7 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 step-children, and 7 step-grandchildren.
