Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron is in charge of arrangements for Kathy Frimann

Kathy Marlene (Wright) Frimann was born May 27th, 1949, in Gordon Memorial Hospital in Gordon, NE, to Leo and Loretta Wright, along with her twin brother Keith. She passed away April 28, 2024, in Hay Springs.

Kathy and Keith joined older brother Mitch at their home northeast of Hay Springs; later, younger brother John completed the family.

Kathy attended a little country school north of Hay Springs until the 3rd grade when the family moved to Colorado. They moved back to Hay Springs in 1967, where she attended Hay Springs High for her senior year and graduated in 1968.

She met Loren Frimann and they were married on Dec 5th, 1970, in Rushville, NE. To this union two sons were born: David in 1974 and Larry in 1975. Kathy worked many jobs around the town of Hay Springs, but her best job was working with Loren when they owned the lawn care business.

Loren and Kathy enjoyed taking trips together, with many of them centered around heavy equipment and earth moving, which was Loren’s career. These trips took them to many places such as Denver and California, but their favorite destination was Las Vegas where they could see the sites and try their luck at gambling.

Kathy enjoyed playing the piano and singing, but those who knew her best knew her main love was playing cards, games of chance, and mostly the marble game.

You didn’t have to be around her very long for her to say, “Do you want to play a game?”. But you also knew that you had to keep a close eye on Kathy because just like her mother, she loved to win by “any means necessary.”

Kathy was always willing to help Loren and her boys out and enjoyed going along with them on their hunting trips, helping any way she could and cooking for them often. She loved spending time with her grandsons and hearing about their last adventures. Many of her sons’ friends would come to her house and Kathy was always welcoming and took on the mothering role with them.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Loren; both her parents Leo and Loretta Wright; in-laws Lawrence and Margaret Frimann; younger brother, John; grandson, Garrett and brother-in-law, Gerald Frimann.

She is survived by sons David and Larry and grandson Drake, all of Correctionville IA; brother Mitch (Judy) Wright, Crawford, NE; brother Keith (Donna) Wright, Basset, NE; brother-in-law Lonnie (Janet) Frimann, Scottsbluff, NE; sister-in-law Darlene (Ken) Aspinall, Kerrville TX; and sister-in-law Colleen Frimann, Hay Springs.

Kathy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, her dear friends (almost family) of Pat Speirs, Mike Speirs, Ron Olson, Odey Ray and Lori Boardman and countless other friends.

Kathy and her family would like to especially thank Brenda Johnson and everyone in the Chadron Hospice for their excellent care and help, the staff of Pioneer Manor for their compassionate care in Kathy’s final days, and Pat Speirs for the help and assistance he provided Kathy.
