Funeral services for 76-year old Ken Garner of Chadron are Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 11:00 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chadron.
Interment with military honors will be Wednesday, August 30, at 2:00 CST at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the VFW, the Dawes County Veterans Honor Guard, or Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Donations may be made in care of Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Ken Garner was born May 6, 1947, to the late Richard and Elizabeth Garner. He passed away August 19, 2023, at his home.
.Ken joined the Marine Corps in July of 1966 and served until his retirement from the military in September of 1989. On May 9, 1969, he married the love of his life Deborah M. Garner.
After retiring from their daily jobs, Ken and Deborah decided to move to Chadron in 2009 where they had the Blue Moon Stables; a and renamed it “LZ1”, this started their involvement in the community.
Ken is survived by his daughters -Sheri (Randy) Russell of Ohio; Mona Hill of Maryland; Tamorah (Timothy) Brauer of Texas; and son Kenneth Joe (Chris) Garner of Maryland; 11 grandchildren;18 Grandchildren; and 4 foster grandchildren – Kayden, Mylee, Harlan, and Case Kristad.
Ken is also survived by his brothers Gary (Phylis) Garner of Gothenburg, NE; Glenn (Stacy) Garner of Mullen, NE; Allen (Jeanie) Garner of Kearny, NE; Donald Garner of Iowa; sister Mary Ann (Nick) Rudloff of Crawford, NE; brother-in-law Joe Brown of LaVista, NE; and sister-in-law Shirley Garner of Lincoln, NE.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife Deborah Garner, (Parent-in-laws) Luther and Myrtle Thomas. and his siblings Douglas Garner, Joyce Mizner and Ruth Brown.
