Kimball Woman Arrested After 140 MPH Police Chase Between Kearney And Lexington

Loading

A Panhandle woman was arrested Thursday night near Lexington after leading police on chase that topped 140 mph, then refusing to get out of her car.

46-year old Rebecca Brown of Kimball was taken into custody for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several traffic violations.

The Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper clocked the eastbound Brown at 117 mph a little after 9:00 pm about 10 miles west of Kearney. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but Brown instead accelerated with the trooper in pursuit.

As the speed went past 140 mph, a second trooper successfully deployed stop sticks a few miles east of Lexington. The car slowed, then went into the north ditch and came to a stop near the Lexington exit.

Brown refused to get out of the car, but emerged after about 7:00 and was taken to the Dawson County Jail. The Lexington Police Department and Dawson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the incident.
