Lady Rams Drop 2 Close Matches

The Crawford Lady Rams dropped two close matches, pushing Hemingford to a five-set marathon and stealing a set from Hay Springs in a 3-1 contest.

The Rams took the first and third sets from Hemingford a week ago Monday, but lost the second and fourth as the Bobcats forced the fifth set. Crawford opened with a 25-14 set win, only to see the momentum shift to Hemingford, who won the second 13-25. The Rams regained their footing in the third for a 25-18 victory and saw the fourth slip away from them 20-25. In the deciding fifth set, the Bobcats controlled the tempo and won the set and match 7-15.

The Bobcats had 37 kills in the match, led by Kambree Walker, who landed 10 kills on 42 attacks. Stats for the Rams are not yet available.

The Rams sought to get a Homecoming win Friday as they faced Hay Springs. The Hawks went up two sets to none with 13-25, 20-25 contests. Crawford regrouped and took the third set 25-21 to push the match into a fourth, in which the Hawks barely escaped. Hay Springs defeated the Rams 22-25 in the set to end the match. Stats are not yet available.

Hay Springs also defeated Crawford on the gridiron at Homecoming Friday, putting up a 50-16 victory over the Rams. Box scores and stats are not yet available.

Crawford’s football and volleyball teams will play in Minatare Friday. The Lady Rams will also compete in Panhandle Conference action Saturday and will take on Cody-Kilgore at home on Oct. 18.
