Today is the deadline for nominations for the Dawes County Good Neighbor Award, which will be awarded a week from Sunday at Dawes County Fair as part of the annual County Agricultural Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben and the Omaha World-Herald gave out statewide Good Neighbor Awards for many years to individuals who had provided assistance and/or done good deeds, but discontinued the program several years ago.
The Dawes County Ag Hall of Fame Committee revived the program locally last year and presented the Good Neighbor Award to 6 individuals or groups.
Good Neighbor Award nominations should be sent to Dawes County Ag Society secretary Brooke Kime at 623 Airport Road in Chadron. The nomination should include details about why the individual or organization is worthy of the recognition.
