Leona Ida (Bear Robe) Broken Nose, “Ka’yela Ku’tepi Win” was born on November 22, 1942 in Pine Ridge, SD to John Bear Robe, Jr. and Flossie Pipe On Head. Leona made her journey to the Spirit World on June 23, 2022 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.

Leona is survived by her twins, Cedric Broken Nose of Oglala, SD and Colette (Wayne) Eagle Boy of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Matthew Broken Nose of Oglala, SD, Chloe’ (Chiloe) Eagle Boy of Rapid City, SD, Justin Shield of New Jersey, Rebecca Shield of Georgia, Aleah, Arian, Amber, and Cody Eagle Boy all of Rapid City, SD, and Sameria Black Crow of Japan; great grandchildren, Presley, Lila, & Zoe Shield all of New Jersey, Natelina & Hoksila Gutierrez whom she watched crawl and walk; brothers, Cecil (Carmel) Bear Robe and Johnson Bear Robe both of Oglala, SD.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, John and Flossie Bear Robe; grandparents, James Pipe on Head and Mary New Holy; great grandparents Pipe On Head and Lucinda Runs On; her great-great grandparents Chief Bigfoot and Sinte Cikala Win; her husband, Tex Broken Nose; her two sons, Ivern and Lowell Broken Nose; and her brothers, Willie and Howard Bear Robe.

Pallbearers will be Elton Eagle Louse, Kevin Belt, Super Kindle, Chad Bettelyoun, Daniel Bad Wound, and Preston Good Voice Flute.

Honorary pallbearers will be Margi Bettelyoun, Faye Charging Thunder, Ingrid One Feather, Luanne Bad Wound, and All Friends & Relatives.

Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 3, 2022 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Monday, July 4, 2022 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD
