U.S. Congressman Mike Flood

By Mike Flood

I first met Sen. Deb Fischer at freshman orientation for new Unicameral state senators in 2004, and her exceptional dedication was evident from the start. This rancher from Cherry County exemplifies a unique blend of skill and unwavering conservative values, making her one of Nebraska’s strongest advocates.

I remember snowy weekends when Deb would spend hours writing personal notes to her constituents, keeping them informed and celebrating their achievements. After eight impactful years in the Legislature, she secured millions of dollars for our road system, addressing years of neglect.

Now a senior member of the U.S. Senate, Deb is set to lead the Senate Armed Services Committee while serving on the Appropriations and Agricultural Committees. In a time when military installations face funding challenges, she has been crucial in securing resources for Offutt Air Force Base, including a new STRATCOM headquarters and a complete runway rebuild. Under her leadership, Central Nebraska airports expanded commercial service, Lincolnโ€™s south beltway was completed, and small towns received vital federal support for essential services like wastewater treatment.

Deb Fischer gets the job done while others chase headlines. Nebraska hasn’t enjoyed this level of influence in the U.S. Senate for 30 years. Without her advocacy, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln wouldnโ€™t have been chosen for a new USDA research facility.

I urge my fellow Nebraskans to vote for Sen. Deb Fischer. The stakes are high, and her influence is crucial for our state’s future. This election is pivotal; letโ€™s not miss the chance to preserve her seniority. Please vote for her in November.
