Local VFD’s Responding to Eagle Eye Fire UPDATE 4:00

Local and Federal Resources are currently battling the Eagle Eye fire, 14 miles northwest of Crawford, after being reported shortly before 5 o’clock Tuesday morning.

According to Great Plains Dispatch, the fire was at 80 acres at 8 AM with no containment, and an air attack is being launched to assist land crews.

This is an ongoing story, more information will be provided as it becomes available.

UPDATE 4:00

According to Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands, a type 1 helicopter has been ordered to assist on the fire, and will be dipping out of Lake Whitney.

The public is asked to avoid the area today and tomorrow.

Fire Units from Chadron, Crawford, Harrison, and the U.S. Forest Service have responded to this fire.
