Keep Chadron Beautiful says it’s now closed applications for executive director and recycling coordinator

Keep Chadron Beautiful held its annual Community Cleanup Saturday morning and it brought mixed emotions to long-time executive director Susan Hucke because it was her last.

Hucke announced recently that she was stepping down after 19 years as director to seek new challenges and goals while remaining in Chadron, where she grew up.

Hucke says the most personally meaningful aspect of her years with KCB was being able to serve the community in a tangible way, bringing needed messages to residents about subjects ranging from cleaning up litter to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Hucke also took great joy in working with two generations of local children to help them learn the same types of things as their parents, but in fun activities.

Coinciding with Hucke’s departure is the move of the Keep Chadron Beautiful office from the northeast corner of the Blaine Hotel, its home during Hucke’s entire tenure.

The KCB’s new office is in the 300-block of Main Street in the old Bump Law Office and Abstract building, which now houses the Dawes County Veterans Service Office. The physical move took place on Saturday,

Keep Chadron Beautiful is continuing to seek applications for a new executive director and a recycling coordinator.

Interested candidates simply need to email a resume and letter of interest to kcbexec57@gmail.com.
