Longtime Rockies Player Announces Retirement

Good things sadly always come to an end and one good thing will end this weekend for the Colorado Rockies. Monday night, 19 year Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon announced on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account that he will be retiring at the end of this season. 

Blackmon was drafted in the second round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft by the Colorado Rockies out of Georgia Tech and made his Major League Baseball debut on June 6 of 2011. 

During his 14 year career he has averaged a .292 batting average and has 1,797 hits, 797 RBIโ€™s and 226 home runs and counting going into the final six games of his career. 

His final game as a major league baseball player will be on Sunday September 29th when the Rockies wrap up their season against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
