Graveside services for 83-year old Loretta Bettelyoun are Friday, Nov 6, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Rockyford, SD, with Sister Barb Bogenschutz officiating.
Visitation precedes the service from 10:00 till noon at the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD.
Loretta Elizabeth (Young) Bettelyoun was born on January 1, 1937 in Pine Ridge, SD to Louis Young, Sr. and Eva Yellow Horse. Loretta made her journey to the Spirit World on October 26, 2020 at the Oglala Lakota Sioux Nursing Home in White Clay, NE.
Loretta is survived by daughters, Francine Buenrostro, Tamara Martinez, Shirldene Moser, Susan Young, Nolean Kocer, Carla Kocer, and Kelly Red Kettle; son, Harold Afraid of Hawk, Jr.; sons-in-law, Larry Moser, Oscar Pulido, Sr., and Dave Martin; siblings, DonRoy Ghost, Stanley Young, Sr., and Melvin Young; 45 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Louis, Sr. and Eva (Yellow Horse) Young; brothers, Lorell Young, Sr. and Louis Young, Jr.; sisters, Ruth Ann Young and Dolly Mae Ghost; daughters, Baby Loretta Kocer and Candance Kills Ree; grandchildren, Tabitha Swift Hawk, Brian Martinez, Mary Young, Marsha Young and J.J. Pulido, Jr.; and grandparents, Joseph Yellow Horse and Susie Patton-Yellow Horse.
Pallbearers will be Fernando Bettelyoun, Oscar Pulido, Jr., Terrence Bettelyoun, Matt Bettelyoun, Michael Swift Hawk, Jr., and Stanley Young, Jr.
