Mabelann Elizabeth Cheyenne “Kokipesni Win”, which was given to her by the AIM Matriarchs, (Woman Who Faced Challenges Without Fear) was born on April 3, 1987 in Pine Ridge, SD to Thomas (Carla) Cheyenne and Victoria (Virgil) Rowland-Left Hand. Mabelann made her journey to the Spirit World on August 15, 2023 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Mabelann is survived by her father, Thomas (Carla) Cheyenne; step-father, Virgil Left Hand; significant other, Jesse Wounded Shield; daughters, Jasmine (Rafael Davila) Wounded Shield and Jessyca Wounded Shield; son, Jayden Wounded Shield; siblings, Rochelle Cheyenne, Faron “Ben” Cheyenne, Sophia Cheyenne, Veronica Left Hand, Virgil Left Hand, Jr., Jacob Left Hand, Brennan (Caitlin Hawk) Cheyenne, and Jeremy Cheyenne; two grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabelann was preceded in death by her mother, Victoria Rowland-Left Hand; maternal grandparents, Cleone Ice and Clarence Rowland; and paternal grandparents, Lott Cheyenne and Doreen Little Sack.
Pallbearers will be Dakota AIM Grassroots Warriors and Wambli Ska AIM Warriors.
