Main Street In Chadron Reopens After Resurfacing

Loading

The resurfacing of Main Street in Chadron from 3rd to 10th couldn’t have gone much smoother – pun intended.

The city and contractor TopKote set aside 24 hours from noon Wednesday for the asphaltic surface treatment, better known as armor coating of chip-and-seal, but the work was done and the street reopened early.

Armor coating extends the life of asphalt paving by sealing out water by laying a thin base of asphalt emulsion onto the existing surface and covering it with fine rock that’s compacted with rollers. The new surfaces typically last 5 to 7 years.
