Margaret was born to Ross and May (Stewart) Tryon on May 1, 1934, in Rushville, NE, and passed away on May 14, 2022, surrounded by family at her home in Lincoln.

Although she began life in Rushville, the family moved to Morrill where Margaret attended school and graduated from Morrill High School in 1952.

She attended Chadron State College, where she was tapped into the Cardinal Key National Honor Society, one of only three women to be so honored. She was also chosen as Homecoming Queen her sophomore year. While at CSC, she met the love of her life, Jerry Wrage.

They were married in St Ann’s Catholic Church in Morrill on Aug. 22, 1955, but then resided in Chadron where Jerry pursued his degree and Margaret was appointed as the city clerk-finance officer.

The Wrage family grew with 4 kids –  Scott, Susan, Laurie, and Shawn – and moved to Ogallala. Margaret and Jerry’s greatest joy was following sports and musical events while their children attended Ogallala schools.

Margaret did return to CSC to finish her business administration degree and received her diploma in 1985, then accepted a position as a librarian with Goodall City Library in Ogallala.

Her love of books and reading helped her to inspire others to read as well. The many new friends she made while there and getting to know so many people in the community were so very rewarding to her.

Margaret retired from the library in December 2001, but stayed close by eventually serving on the Library Board.

In retirement, she became very involved with the community of Keystone as a member of the Keystone Women’s Library Association, Keystone Key Club, Red Hat Society, Altar Society of St Luke Catholic Church and Ogallala Regional Arts Council.

Margaret was a wonderful pianist and accompanied students and choirs. She continued her love of music as a piano teacher in later years.

Margaret and Jerry enjoyed their many bridge companions, dinner and cards with friends and a friendly tournament here and there. She also pursued her love of drawing and painting, creating beautiful work.

Margaret and Jerry enjoyed traveling by land, sea, or air. They had many adventures visiting family and friends, exploring new places and restaurants, always trying new cuisines and searching for the ultimate chocolate.

As proud grandparents, the ventures tended to center around their beloved grandchildren, Jessica and Nick, and drew them across Nebraska, Iowa, and beyond for sporting events, musical performances, academic achievements or even just a summer getaway.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry; and her son Scott.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Tim Weismann of Waverly and Laurie Wrage and Ken Priesner of Ogallala; and son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Rebecca Wrage of North Platte.

She is also survived by grandchildren Jessica (Weismann) Carr, Jared Carr and Nick Weismann of Lincoln; very special great-grandson Waylen Scott Carr; her brother and his wife Stewart and Joan Tryon of Lincoln; and other relatives and dear friends.

Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala has been entrusted with arrangements for Margaret Wrage.
