Mark Alan Deines was born July 20, 1964 in Sidney, NE, to Leland and Margaret Luella (Stowell) Deines. He died on May 26, 2024 at the age of 59. Thanks to community support he was home and surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.

Mark spent the first year of his life in a hospital in Lincoln, NE as he was born with club feet and had to have multiple surgeries. His parents visited as often as they could; Luella would often take a bus for the nearly 5 hour drive to Lincoln to see him while Lee would stay to work and take care of the five other children back home.

After he came home, Mark lived in Sidney until he was 11 years old, when the family moved to Gordon. He graduated from Gordon High School in 1982 and was in the Army reserve for two years right after high school.

He married his first wife, Judi Matteson, in 1982 and had one son, Trent Deines, while living in Casper. Wyo. Mark married his former wife, Amy Adler in 1995 while living in Phoenix, AZ, and had two sons. Kyle Deines was born in Arizona prior to the family moving back to Gordon to be closer to family, where Jesse Deines was born.

Mark worked as a roofer and a foreman, and also installed misters in AZ. He was a kind man, always willing to help anyone. He liked to tinker and could fix small engines and other motorized vehicles and machinery.

Mark struggled with addiction for several years and was very proud of his six years of sobriety. He lived in Alliance for 5 years of that sobriety with his emotional support dog Peanut, working part-time at the treatment center before returning to Gordon to support his father after his mother passed away in December of 2022.

Mark worked hard to turn his life around and mend broken relationships. One of his highest priorities was always his sons. His youngest boys were in Wisconsin, but he reached out constantly and visited as often as he could after mending those relationships. He was excited that his son Trent had recently moved to Martin, SD, only a 45 minute drive from Gordon.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother Margaret Luella Deines; nephew Chad Glassgow; the recent death (May 13, 2024) of his grandmother Louise Deines; grandparents Harry Deines, Eleanor Deines, Gladys Deines, and Ray & Bertha Stowell; and multiple cousins, aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his father Leland Deines; sons Trent, Kyle, & Jesse Deines; brothers Rusty and Kevin Deines; sisters Cheryl Deines, Shelly Thompson, and Karen Glassgow; brothers-in-law Chuck Glassgow and Dave Thompson; uncles Jim Deines & Gene Stowell; aunts Lin Deines and Alby Forquer; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
