The Endangered Species Act is a federal law administered by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service that makes it illegal to kill, harm, or collect endangered or threatened wildlife, fish, or plants from areas under federal jurisdiction. You can find your state’s listed threatened and endangered species by visiting the Environmental Conservation Online System ecos.fws.gov/ecp.
