The best time to control broadleaf weeds in a lawn is fall. In the fall weeds are putting all of their energy into their root system to get ready to shut down for the winter. If a broadleaf herbicide is applied at this time the weeds pull the chemical into their roots as they shut down usually killing the broadleaf weed. To ensure adequate leaf surface and herbicide absorption, don’t mow the lawn 2-3 days before or after the application. Make sure that rain is not in the forecast and don’t water for 24 hours.
