Meidell Headed To National High School Rodeo

Leif Meidell of Harrison is headed to the National High School Finals Rodeo after taking 2nd place in the saddle bronc riding at the Nebraska High School Finals Rodeo in Hastings this past weekend.

The top four in each event qualify for Nationals hosted in Gillette, WY towards the middle of July.

Meidell led the competition after the first night with a score of 72, but failed to stay on for 8-seconds in Saturday’s 2nd go-round. His 3rd go-round nabbed him a 74 to finish off the weekend.

Monte Bailey of Lakeside was the only cowboy to put together three successful rides. Bailey tallied a 71 on the opening night followed by rides of 75 and 68.

Meidell is the only area cowboy or cowgirl that will make an appearance at Nationals
