Melinda Rae Wilcox was born on April 20, 1976 in Pine Ridge, SD to Roger Lee Red Elk, Sr. and Annie Louise (High Horse) Red Elk Sr. Melinda made her journey to the Spirit World on September 16, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Melinda is survived by her spouse, Harlan Wilcox, Sr.; children, Taylor Red Elk, Harlan “Chunky” Wilcox, Dwan Red Elk, Alvera Wilcox, Geneva Wilcox and Arliss Wilcox; grandchildren, MaKenzie Louise Red Elk, MaKinley Rae Red Elk, MaKaylee Ann Red Elk, Peyton Charging Crow, Oliver Wilcox and Presley Charging Crow.
Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, Annie & Roger Red Elk, Sr.; brother, Waylon Red Elk; sister-in-law, Jaylene Pretends Eagle; Kids, Dallas Red Elk & Waylon Red Elk, Jr.; sister, Sharon Red Elk-Pebeashy; grandparents, Agnes & Alfred High Horse and Steven & Vivian Red Elk; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Erick Red Elk, Conway Red Elk, Roger Red Elk, Jr., Neil Red Elk, Jeremy High Horse, Jr., Terrance Pumpkin Seed, Bernard Moves Camp, Zaptan Chipps, Jaybird Clairmont, Marlon White Feather, Angelo Red Elk, Landon Pretends Eagle and Ace Amiotte.
