According to the Lincoln Police Department, former Nebraska interim head football coach Mickey Joseph was arrested on Wednesday afternoon for strangulation and 3rd degree domestic assault.
In a release, LPD says that they were dispatched to a home near S. 34th and Tree Line Drive regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon completion of an investigation, Joseph was arrested and booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
Lincoln PD says releases are not typically made in instances of domestic-related arrests, but due to the high profile nature of the person involved, notification of the arrest was made.
Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts released a short statement saying,” I was made aware of the charges against Coach Joseph and given the nature of the allegations and based on University policy, he has been placed on administrative leave. The university has no further comment.”
