The Chadron Police Department is investigating a case of procurement after a 17-year-old male was discovered along the road with injuries after drinking.
Chief Rick Hickstein said the boy was found along the road in the 2000 block of Maple Street around 6:30 a.m. Aug. 4. He suffered from apparent injuries and was transported to Chadron Community Hospital and eventually issued a citation for being a minor in possession.
Later that morning, police logs indicate a liquor law violation investigation in the 300 block of Cedar Street. Hickstein said the investigation was opened in an effort to determine where the minor obtained the alcohol. The matter is still under investigation, and no citations have been issued yet for procuring.
