      The deadline for young women to enter the 2024 Miss Chadron and Miss Chadron’s Teen Pageant has been extended until this Friday.
The pageant will be a week from Saturday on October 14 at 6:00 in the Chadron High School Auditorium.
First-year pageant director Courtney Grumbles says she has 8 entries for the Miss pageant and would welcome more, but has just 2 on the Teen side and hopes to have at least 5 or 6 – if not more.
The Miss pageant is open to all female Nebraska residents, including college students from other states, who were born between 1996 -2006.
The Teen pageant is open to all female Nebraska residents who were born between 2006-2010. Young ladies born in 2006 have the option of competing in either the Miss or the Teen competition.
The Miss Chadron Pageant had been a fall staple for 3 decades, but a lack of new volunteer leaders put it on hiatus the last few years. The local titles were then combined with the Miss Alliance Pageant to create the Best of the West Pageant.
Grumbles is excited to have it return as an official local qualifying pageant for Miss America and Miss America’s Teen, designed to promote scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living, and community involvement for young women.
Emcees for the Miss Chadron Pageant on the 14th will be Scottsbluff native and reigning Miss Nebraska Morgan Baird and the reigning Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen Boston Pettera, who was Miss Alliance’s Teen when she won the state crown.
Along with scholarships, crowns and prizes, the winners of the local pageant will advance to the Miss Nebraska and Miss Nebraska’s Teen pageant next June in North Platte.
Contestants at both the Miss and Teen levels are judged on personal interview, talent, evening gown, onstage question, and health and fitness.
The pageant will also have a separate overall community service competition, an audience choice award, and Miss Congeniality – determined by a vote of the contestants. A silent auction will take place during the competition.
