Miss Huron Hunter Widvey Crowned Miss South Dakota

      Miss Huron Hunter Widvey is the new Miss South Dakota, the 75th young woman to hold the title.

Widvey was crowned Saturday night at South Dakota State University in Brookings, topping a field of 20 contestants. She will compete at the Miss America Pageant in December.

The Friday preliminary talent winner and a medical school student at Des Moines University, Widvey also received a $750 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship.

     1st runner up was Miss Rapid City Carly Goodhart, the Thursday Social Impact Pitch winner.Goodhart also received the $1,000 Quality of Life Scholarship for her community service project, the $1,000 Sylvia Tannehill “Kindness” Scholarship, and the $250 Miss South Dakota Legacy Scholarship.

       Miss Northern State University Annie Woodmansey was 2nd runner-up with Miss Dakota Prairie Rio Snyder 3rd runner-up and the other winner of the $750 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

   4th runner up Miss State Fair Miranda O’Bryan also received two $1,000 scholarships, the Top Fundraiser and State Community Service Scholarships, the latter sponsored by Hot Springs native and Miss South Dakota 2015 Autumn Simunek Conrad. 

      Miss Brookings Emma Salzwedel was the winner of the non-semi-finalist interview award. 

      On Friday night, Olivia Odenbrett was crowned Miss South Dakota’s Outstanding Teen 2022 from a field of 12. Competing as Miss Siouxland Outstanding Teen, Odenbrett advances to the national pageant August 10-12 in Dallas, Texas.
