Authorities in Sidney say a surveillance camera filmed a mountain lion walking through a yard in the northeast part of the city early Monday morning.
The big cat had no interaction with any humans.
The Sidney Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the video of the lion was time-stamped about 1:00 am and was taken only a block from an elementary school.
Officers responded to the report from the homeowner, but didn’t spot the mountain lion. Sidney police are working with Nebraska Game and Parks to try to find the animal.
Members of the public are asked to be vigilant and to contact the Sidney Police Department if they see the cougar.
