Myron Whalen Jr – UPDATE Second Date Change

Funeral services for 72-year old Myron Whalen Jr, originally scheduled for Friday, Dec 16, and then for Wed, Dec 21, will now have viewing Tues, Dec 20, 2022, from 10:30-11:30 at the Sioux Funeral Home in Pine Ridge, SD, with Ms Joyce Tibbits officiating.

Burial will follow at Holy Cross Episcopal Cemetery in Pine Ridge.

Myron Emmett Whalen Jr was born on March 17, 1950 in Falls City, NE to Myron Sr and Gladys (Campbell) Whalen.  Myron Jr made his journey to the Spirit World on December 2, 2022 at the Seven Sisters Assisted Living Center in Hot Springs, SD.

Myron is survived by his children Nicole Whalen, Terilynn Hernandez, Jesse J Whalen, Louis Bettelyoun, Monte Whalen, Serine Whalen, Sueann Whalen, Tyson Whalen, Anthony Whalen, Jack Whalen, James Black Bear, and Shanice Black Bear; brothers Jeff Whalen, Monte Whalen, and Bruce Whalen; sister Henny Whalen; grandchildren Margerita “Serene Lara” Cedar Whalen, Justice O Whalen, Joseph Whalen, Jayden Whalen, Raygan R Whalen, Dason D Whalen, Elaina Bettelyoun, Xavier Hernandez, Braxton Whalen, Tyrine Whalen, Aaron Black Bear, Evelyn Whalen, Valerie Whalen, Theodore William Guzman Jr, Kaedyn Lynn Jay Whalen, Ronald Rowdy Krupka, Kori Shea Black Bear, Christen Kianna Black Bear, Richard Francis Black Bear, Jamiya Black Bear; great-grandchildren Maquel Anchondo, Donovan Anchondo, Adrian Anchondo, Gabriel Lara, William Lara, Mayabelle Lara; and numerous nieces & nephews.    

Myron was preceded in death by his parents Myron Sr and Gladys (Campbell) Whalen; son Leonard Poor Bear Jr; paternal grandparents Richard “Dick” Whalen and Emma (Henry) Whalen; maternal grandparents, Louis Campbell and Mary (Brien) Campbell; and nephew Jeff Whalen Jr.

Pallbearers will be Jesse J Whalen, Monte Whalen, Louis Harley Whalen, Louis Bettelyoun, Jack Whalen, Anthony Whalen, Tyson Whalen, and Serine Whalen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Nelson, Gerald Cottier, Lane Bissonette, Aaron Dreamer, Don “Cuny Dog” Cuny, Cyrus Black Elk, Jody Plenty Wounds, Leonard Poor Bear, Joe “Batt” Richards, Dennis Bear Runner, Larry Buckman, Doug Bissonette, Lil Joe Bettelyoun, Joe Eagle Star, and All Friends & Relatives.
