The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of the two women involved in a fatal UTV accident Monday evening in an area popular with UTV and ATV users about 30 miles southwest of Sturgis.

Killed in the accident was 30-year old Alicia Murray of Chocta, OK.

Murray was riding with 37-year old Jamie Fletcher of Rapid City, the driver, on a U-S Forest Service road between Dalton Lake and Piedmont when the UTV left the roadway about 7:45 pm and hit a tree.

The Meade County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call, but when emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found Murray had suffered fatal injuries while Fletcher had minor injuries and taken to a nearby hospital.

The Highway Patrol says both women were wearing seatbelts, but not helmets.Â
