Former NASCAR driver Kyle Petty, his NASCAR Hall of Fame father Richard Petty, and about a dozen other celebrities will be in Chadron today for lunch as the annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America stops at the Country Kitchen restaurant at 11:45.

The Charity Ride is a week-long motorcycle trek through various cities. Petty began it in 1995 and he’s been joined by over 7,950 riders who have logged 11.6 million cumulative motorcycle miles and raised $17.5 million dollars for children’s charities.

Fans and the public are invited to come to the Country Kitchen and meet the celebrities, purchase memorabilia, and make donations.

The focus the past 20 years has been Victory Junction, a camp in North Carolina that serves children with serious illnesses and chronic medical conditions. Up to 120 kids can go to the camp for 5 days each week of the summer.

Kyle Petty established Victory Junction in 2004 to honor his late son Adam, a NASCAR driver killed in a crash during practice in 2000 at age 20.

Over 115,000 camp experiences have been provided to children at Victory Junction at no cost to their families, thanks to the Charity Ride

Kyle Petty ran in 829 NASCAR Cup races over 30 years, retiring in 2006 with 8 wins and 173 Top 10 finishes.

His father, nicknamed King Richard, holds the records for NASCAR Cup win with 200, Series championship with 7, season victories with 27, and Daytona 500 career wins with 7
