Nebraska Family Alliance Applauds Introduction of “Stand With Women Act” to Protect Girls’ Sports and Privacy

Following the introduction of the “Stand With Women Act” by Senator Kathleen Kauth in the Nebraska Legislature earlier today, Nebraska Family Alliance (NFA) announced its support for the bill and urged state senators to pass this overdue legislation.

The “Stand With Women Act” is designed to safeguard the rights, opportunities, privacy, and safety of women and girls in Nebraska by establishing simple, sex-specific standards in sports, schools, and state facilities. It protects the privacy of students and citizens in restrooms and locker rooms, preserves the integrity of female sports, and secures fair opportunities for competition and scholarships.

LB 89 takes a commonsense approach to address growing concerns from parents and athletes about fairness and safety in female sports and the protection of private spaces. Numerous states across the country have passed similar measures.

This bill expands on prior efforts in Nebraska to protect K-12 students by including protections for college and university athletes and ensuring state agencies adhere to consistent sex-based policies.

“Fairness, respect, and safety are values every Nebraskan can support. It’s time to stand together to protect the rights of women and girls in our state,” said Nate Grasz, Executive Director of Nebraska Family Alliance.

“LB 89 is common sense. It ensures girls’ sports are fair and private spaces like bathrooms and locker rooms remain private. We commend Senator Kauth’s leadership in bringing forward this critical legislation and look forward to getting it to Governor Pillen’s desk in 2025,” Grasz stated.
