Nebraska Men Big Ten Track Champions; Women Runner-Up

Loading

The Nebraska men are the Big Ten Outdoor Track Champions for the 2nd straight year while the Husker women took 2nd.

The men totaled 136 points to beat Iowa by 50 while the women’s 115.3 points were 16 fewer than Wisconsin.

It’s the first repeat title for the Nebraska men since their last 2 years in the Big 12 while the women’s runner-up is their best conference finish since 2015.

The men’s title came despite the Huskers claiming just 2 firsts at the meet. Tyus Wilson won the HJ with an NCAA-leading and personal best 7-6 while Darius Luff matched his PR in the 110 HH with the 2nd-fastest time in the NCAA this season.

The key to the title was depth as the Huskers had 7 seconds, 3 thirds, and 5 fourth-place finishers.

The Nebraska women had 3 Big Ten champions – Rhianna Phipps in the TJ, Axelina Johansson in the shot put, and Rhema Otabor in the javelin.
