Nebraska To Honor Solich At Spring Game

Loading

Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts made a major announcement on Wednesday night when he revealed that former Husker football coach Frank Solich will return to Memorial Stadium during the spring game on April 22nd to be honored.

Solich has not been seen at Memorial Stadium since his firing in 2003.

Solich was a Husker running back in the 60’s and then joined the Nebraska coaching staff in 1979 as a running backs coach. He was hand picked by Tom Osborne in 1997 to take over the program as head coach.

He led Nebraska to the 1999 Big 12 championship and an appearance in the 2001 national championship at the Rose Bowl.

After his firing, Solich took over Ohio University and went on to become the winningest coach in program history and just last season had the field at Ohio’s Peden Stadium named after him.

Alberts finished by saying another special announcement concerning Solich will be made during the spring game ceremonies.
