Neva Eileen Bruce was born in Holyoke, Colo, to Louis and Anna Suhr on September 30, 1933, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
Neva was baptized at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church in Amherst, Colo, on October 22, 1933 and confirmed in May 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gordon.
As the middle child of 5, she enjoyed a simple, full life with her parents, her two older siblings Derrell and Cleo, and her younger siblings Lyle and Marlys.
Neva moved with her family in 1946 to Gordon, where she enjoyed her studies, activities, and friendships in school, 4H, and at Trinity Lutheran Church. After graduating high school, she began a career at First National Bank of Gordon.
Neva married Dean Bruce on October 10th, 1954. Their marriage was blessed with 5 children and all the activities that come with a growing family.
Much of that activity centered around their church, Grace Lutheran in Gordon, where Neva served faithfully in many different capacities throughout her life.
God gave Neva a quiet strength and passion which was reflected in her love for her husband, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her church family, friends, and neighbors.
Neva returned to the First National Bank of Gordon in the 1970s, where she enjoyed working and cherished her friendships.
In 2018, Neva moved with Dean to an assisted living community in Lincoln, NE.
Neva is survived by her loving husband of nearly 68 years, Dean Bruce as well as children Paula [Randall] Lube, Brenda Potter, Jeanette [David] Hasse, Kay [Mark] Kruger, and Stephen Bruce.
She is also survived by her brother Lyle Suhr; sister Marlys Roth; and brother- and sister-in-law, Bill and Anita Bruce.
Neva was blessed with 14 grandchildren (Eva Coppinger, Clay Lube, Timothy Tiensvold, Dennis Tiensvold, Grant Potter, Alyssa Delzell, Katelyn Potter, Noah Hasse, Peyton Hasse, Michael Kruger, Erin Sandoz, Paul Kruger, Emma Rae Wolf, and Logan Bruce) as well as 8 great-grandchildren (Neva, Margot, Holden, and Henry Tiensvold; Sophia Delzell; Elsie Kruger; and Hallie and Sawyer Sandoz), and 2 more soon-expected great-grandchildren.
She was such a sweet lady, loved working with her. She was so very kind. Sending hugs and prayers to the family. Libby Kendrick
