Mohawks Sport Bar and Grill will be opening this summer at 950 W. Highway 20, replacing Helen’s Pancake and Steak House. Travis Muir, a Chadron rancher, purchased Helens with the thought of selling or leasing the property. Muir said, “ We didn’t exactly know what to do with it. ” Muir commented.“ I always wondered why there wasn’t a sports bar in town, what with the college and such.” Muir and his wife decided to take it on themselves.
Muir mentioned the tremendous amount of remodel done on the inside of the building, including all new electrical. Muir said, “ It doesn’t look like Helen’s anymore.” Muir said there will be TVs on every wall, two bars, and a kitchen that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Muir stated that the outside of the building will change in the next few weeks. Muir said the renovation is about ninety percent complete and hopes to open near July. Muir said, “ We know how to manage, we know how to pick people, and we know what good food is.”
