New Chadron State College President Ron Patterson kicks off a 3-month 11-city listening tour this afternoon and it starts at home.
The first session of Building Our Future Together is at the Bean Broker in Chadron from 4-6:00
Patterson wants to use his first months in office to engage with students, employees, alumni, community members, and friends to learn more about what the college is doing well and where areas for improvement may be located.
Patterson says he “truly believes” CSC stands at “the threshold of an exciting new era of its second century of providing a first-class, first-choice student experience focused on students, teaching, scholarship, and service.”
While this afternoon’s session at the Bean Broker is the first in the Building Our Future Together Tour, it’s not the first time in his 2-plus months on the job that Patterson has held meetings to discuss similar topics.
Last month, he met with educational partners in Alliance, Scottsbluff, Gering, Ogallala, and North Platte – calling the discussions insightful and encouraging.
Only Alliance and Scottsbluff are included in the listening tour, but Patterson says he plans to return to the others this fall as well as meeting with additional education partners throughout CSC’s service area.
He also plans private listening sessions on campus with students, employees, and alumni, but no dates have been set at this time.
Patterson says he will use the comments and information from the listening sessions to help determine priorities for the college’s strategic plan. There’s also an online survey for those who are unable to attend any of the sessions. .
