    The Chadron State Foundation’s annual Fall Fund Drive held its official kickoff luncheon Tuesday for this year’s teams of more than 100 volunteers representing the campus and community.
      Development Officer and Fall Drive coordinator Brandon Davenport says this year’s theme celebrates the recent opening of the new Math Science Center of Innovative Learning and its upgraded planetarium.
Davenport says the theme was embraced by the speakers at yesterday’s luncheon, who emphasized the quality of education received by CSC students.
Volunteers in the Fall Drive have a friendly competition to see who can bring in the most donations and pledges from businesses and individuals throughout Chadron and Northwest Nebraska.
They’re divided into 10 teams from the campus and 10 from the community with 2 co-chairs for each serving 2 years.
The returning co-chairs are Tena Cook for the campus side and Bobby Griese for the community. Working with Griese is Lynn Mathis while Cook’s co-chair is Taylor Osmotherly.
Davenport says the active phase of the drive began yesterday and runs for 3 weeks, although the final total raised won’t be known until next month.
Davenport says last year’s Fall Fund Drive received some larger-than-usual gifts that boosted the total from the expected $140,000-$150,000 range to nearly $203,000.
