Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has activated the National Guard to provide temporary assistance to hospitals dealing with a surge of COVDI-19 patients.

The 95 soldiers and airmen activated by Gordon on Tuesday will serve at 24 sites in 17 Wyoming cities, helping with cleanup, food service, COVID screening, managing supplies of personal protective equipment and other support tasks.

They will serve 14-to-30-day rotations with the potential to be extended through the end of the year.

Wyoming had 195 people hospitalized with COVID-19 on Tuesday, down from the month’s high of 223 on the 8th.
