Nominations Still Being Taken For Dawes County Fair “Good Neighbor Award”

Loading

The Dawes County Fair starts in a little over 2 weeks on July 28 with the annual County Agricultural Hall of Fame induction ceremony two days later on the 30th.

The ceremony at the Fairgrounds includes presentation of the Good Neighbor Award, and the Ag Hall of Fame Committee is accepting nominations for the award until next Monday.

The Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben and the Omaha World-Herald gave out Good Neighbor Awards annually to people across the state who had provided assistance and/or done good deeds, but discontinued the program several years ago.

The Ag Hall of Fame Committee revived the program locally last year and presented the Good Neighbor Award to 6 individuals or groups.

Nominations for this year should be sent to Dawes County Ag Society secretary Brooke Kime at 623 Airport Road in Chadron. The nomination should include details about why the individual or organization is worthy of the recognition.
