Funeral services for 55-year old Norma Rose Janis are Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Little Wound, SD, with Pastor Larry Swalley and Lay Minister Mona Vocu officiating.

Burial will be at St Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Wound, SD

A one-night wake starts Thursday, June 3, at 2:00, also at the Little Wound House of Prayer.

Norma Rose Janis was born on July 10, 1965 in Hot Springs, SD to Hermus Janis-Tall and Grace Eagle Fox.  Norma made her journey to the Spirit World on May 27, 2021 at her home in Kyle, SD.

Norma is survived by special friend, Amelia Rodriguez; daughters, Anastasia Janis, Latasha Iron, Daralynn “DeeDee” Iron and Sara Iron; son, Roland Anthony Iron, Jr.; siblings, Louis R. Janis, Betty Janis, Amelia Janis, Mary Ann Janis, Earl Tall, Joann Finn, Vina Roan Eagle, and Canupa Gluha Mani; and grandchildren, Mason Renteria, Levi George Iron, Johnny Lee Iron, Gracie Ann Chippewa, Jasper Iron, and soon to be born Vadah Janis.

Norma was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Julie “Annie” Yellow Thunder and Thomas “Mato Bloka” Eagle Fox; paternal grandparents, Mary “Wahacanka Yapi” Shield and Charles Janis; parents, Grace Eagle Fox and Hermis Earl Tall; adopted father, Burton Hutchinson; sisters, Beverly Janis, Arlene Janis, and Verleen Ice; and brother, George Tall.

Pallbearers will be Jessica Two Bulls, Angie Two Bulls, Ashley Two Bulls, Annie Janis, Johnlynn Ghost, Byron M. Willow, Theodore “Teddy” Moss, and Trey Janis.

Honorary pallbearers will be her college friend, Chuxie Barrows and all her nephews, nieces, friends, and relatives.
