The Northwest Nebraska Trails Association is gearing up for its annual meeting Thursday, March 23. It will be at the Bean Broker Coffee House and Pub beginning with a half-hour social at 5:30 p.m.
NNTA Board President Britt Helmbrecht said the event provides a way for area trail enthusiasts to connect while learning about how they can become involved in the association’s upcoming projects and events. It is open to the public.
“This year, we’re planning even more events to provide something for everyone. We have a slate of family hikes, bike rides, maintenance days, and more on the calendar,” said Helmbrecht. “We’ve achieved so much in the past six years and I’m excited to see where we can go and what else we can accomplish next.”
One topic of discussion will be the status of the Cowboy Trail Connection, the group’s project to link downtown Chadron to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail.
Helmbrecht said the group has expanded its number of board positions, and plans to elect new members at the meeting. Anyone with interest in serving is encouraged to contact the NNTA by Facebook or email at nwnebraskatrails@gmail.com prior to the meeting.
Members can pay annual dues at the event or by visiting the organization’s website, nwnebraskatrails.com.
The NNTA, officially registered as a nonprofit organization, was established in 2017 to support the development, promotion and maintenance of the region’s non-motorized trails.
